Iran Judiciary chief says ex-agriculture minister convicted

TEHRAN, May 14 (MNA) – Hujjat al-Islam Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje'i, the head of Iran's Judiciary said on Tuesday that that a former Iranian agriculture minister has been charged with corruption and sentenced to three years in prison.

"The former minister has been sentenced to three years in prison. Eight people have been convicted in the same case,"  the Judiciary head said on a visit to Yasuj, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province. 

Ejei said that the legal authorities' campaign against corruption is going with force. "Since I became the head of the judicial system, I started checking on imports and exports. I monitored the central bank, other banks and customs. In the Islamic Republic Establishment, we do not overlook any cases [of corruption]."
